Jun 18 2008HomerCategory: At HomeNathan and Paul were watching college hoops in the family room. As I cleaned up the kitchen, I overheard Paul telling Nathan to stop being a Homer. Huh, a middle-aged, fat, balding guy with an unnatural love of beer and donuts? No, not Homer Simpson, but homer as in the sports radio parlance for always being for the home team no matter what. Except that Nathan wasn't rooting for a local team, but the winning team. He always cheers on the winning team. He did it watching the Olympics, rooting on the Canadian men's curling team as they beat the Americans. He did it when the Broncos (our home team) played the Steelers for the conference championship. Afterwards, he had the nerve to tell us, "Oh I knew Pittsburgh was going to win." His attitude annoys us to no end. Even though we hate to sound PC, we tell him it's OK to lose. Yet secretly we admire Nathan for wanting to be part of the winning team, too. Score: Nathan: 1. Parents: 0.
