Jul 31 2008Stop buggin' me!Category: Kids & Growing UpLucie has begun to notice bugs everywhere we go. She points to insects smashed on the car grill and says, "Eewww, bugs!" She sees spiders on the garage floor, and runs away giggling in mock terror and squealing, "Mama, spiders! Help, help!" One day sitting in my bed, Lucie screamed, "Mama, there are ants in the bed!" Thinking she was having an itchy eczema attack, I went over to investigate. Instead of ants, I found her, the sheets, and the pillow covered in black crumbs from the Oreo she snuck out of the pantry. As I brushed the crumbs off, I explained that we don't eat cookies in bed. On the computer, I played her the old Sesame Street episode where Bert tells Ernie not to eat cookies in bed because it gets in your pajamas and makes you itchy. Finally, I told her that if she absolutely must eat cookies in my bed, make sure she does it on daddy's side. After all, he doesn't wear pajamas.
